JVP leader unveils 560 files of corruption, fraud

It is appreciated that everyone raises their voice against fraud and corruption insisting on taking back ill-gotten wealth to the state, Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake said.

He was addressing the media at the Foundation Institute, Colombo yesterday.

At the event the “Voice Against Corruption” organisation of JVP revealed several mega scale frauds and corruptions taking place in the past under the theme “Mass expose of the thieves who ruined the nation”.

Instead of the open tender procedure a mechanism called “Unsolicited projects” was introduced in 2011 and accordingly investors can decide the project to be carried out. Only the projects, which were proposed by the investor, are carried out.

Under this 51 unsolicited projects were carried out at a cost of US$ 7,913 million. Dissanayake said that not only politicians but also several individuals in several other sectors are liable for these frauds and corruptions including businessmen, administrative officers, investigative officers, officials in the judiciary system, police and security forces and many others.
