Jharkhand: Explosion at Tata Steel factory in Jamshedpur, many workers injured, rescue work underway

Jamshedpur:

There has been a loud explosion in the coke division of Tata Steel’s factory in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand. The plant caught fire after the blast. Many people have been injured in this accident. Fire tenders are engaged in extinguishing the fire at the spot.

In the video of this incident, smoke and flames are coming out from inside the plant.

Regarding the incident of fire, Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren tweeted and informed, “Blast has been received at Tata Steel Plant in Jamshedpur. The district administration, in coordination with the Tata Steel management, is taking action for the speedy treatment of the injured.

According to media reports, this incident happened on Saturday morning at 10.20 am. The fire incident took place at Battery No. 6 and 7 of IMMM Coke Plant. 

A high level investigation has been started into this incident. It has been said from Tata Steel that there was an explosion in the battery of the coke plant, after which the fire tenders immediately reached the spot and brought the situation under control. 

In this accident, two contractual employees have suffered minor injuries and one employee is complaining of chest pain. His condition is stable. Investigation is going on to find out the reasons behind this accident.
