Jammu and Kashmir: Pakistani drone shot down in Kathua, explosives recovered

Yet another drone has been shot down in Jammu and Kashmir. The latest incident has taken place in the Kathua district.

On Sunday morning, the security forces shot down a drone trying to cross over from Pakistan. A big cache of arms and ammunition including 7 magnetic bombs (sticky bombs) and 7 UBGL grenades were recovered.

According to reports, personnel of the Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) spotted a drone in the Hariya Chak area of Kathua district this morning. Taking immediate action, the policemen shot it down. 

The Jammu and Kashmir Police said that some items were also attached to the drone, which was investigated by an anti-discrimination expert. Investigation revealed that 7 magnetic bombs and 7 UBGL grenades were attached to the drone.

According to the police, a search team visits the general area every morning. During this, the drone was spotted and shot down. 

There was also a payload attached to the drone, which is currently being investigated by bomb disposal experts in the Union Territory.

Earlier on May 14, a Pakistani drone was sighted in Indian territory near the India-Pakistan International Border in Arnia sector of RS Pura. On seeing this, the alert BSF jawans started firing due to which the drone returned to Pakistan.
