IPL 2022: Will MS Dhoni play IPL next year? Captain gives big statement

New Delhi:

Chennai Super Kings has gone through a bad phase in IPL 2022. CSK, who have secured the most number of places in the playoffs, are already out this time. The team lost 9 out of 13 matches. CSK has been in turmoil this year. First Ravindra Jadeja became the captain, then it was announced that he is leaving the captaincy and MS Dhoni was given the responsibility back mid-season. Now big news has come out about CSK captain MS Dhoni. Captain MS Dhoni has announced that he will play IPL next year.

After the toss, skipper Dhoni, “Definitely, it would be an injustice to them for not playing in Chennai and saying thank you to the fans. Mumbai is a place where I have received a lot of love and affection as a team and as an individual, but it will not bode well for CSK fans.”

“Hopefully, next year, there will be an opportunity where the teams will travel all over the place, so it will be thanks to all the people from all the different places where we play,” Dhoni said. “Whether it will be my last year or not is a big question because you know we can’t really predict about two years, but of course I will work hard to come back strong next year.”

It is reported that MS Dhoni will be with the team as a player in the next season. Importantly, he is also expected to continue as captain.

According to the news of ESPNcricinfo, the 41-year-old Dhoni has told the team management that he will be available for the 2023 IPL. It has also been learned that Ravindra Jadeja, who was ruled out of the Chennai Super Kings camp due to injury, will also be present for the 2023 season.

Dhoni returned as the captain of the team on May 1 ahead of the Super Kings’ ninth league match against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Pune. This decision came after Jadeja’s decision to step down from the captaincy.

No CSK without

Dhoni will be close to the age of 42 by the next IPL. He is the oldest player of the tournament. Although, he is also one of the fittest players. Soon after Super Kings won the 2021 IPL last October, Super Kings owner N Srinivasan said that Dhoni will always be a part of the franchise, Chennai city and Tamil Nadu state as well. Srinivasan had said, without Dhoni there is no CSK and without CSK there is no Dhoni. Recently, Dhoni also said after the toss in a match that you will see me in the yellow jersey.
