Deoband (Uttar Pradesh):

Today is the second and last day of Jamiat-e-Ulema’s conference in Deoband, Uttar Pradesh. In this conference today, important resolutions were passed on many issues including the Uniform Civil Code (UCC).

The Jamiat clearly said that the Common Civil Code will not be accepted at any cost.

ddressing the conference, Jamiat-e-Ulema president Maulana Mahmood Madani said that implementing the Common Civil Code would be a violation of the Constitution. Any interference in Islamic law and order will not be acceptable. A resolution was also passed regarding the Gyanvapi Masjid and Mathura Idgah Masjid. The Jamiat-e-Ulema resolution said that political parties should avoid uprooting the past.

Addressing the conference, Maulana Mahmood Madani of Jamiat President said, “this country is ours and we will save it. If someone does not like our religion, then they should go somewhere else. We had got a chance to go to Pakistan. But we didn’t go.”

“We don’t scare you, you work to intimidate. We are not non-existent, we belong to this country, this is our country. We will fulfill our responsibility for our country. Our tastes, ways of eating and drinking are different. Our way of dressing is different.”

The Jamiat president further said that there can be a compromise on everything but there cannot be a compromise on ideology. Madani said that interference in Shariat would not be tolerated.

“Today there is a question of our existence. Muslims are already used to suffering atrocities. We have to save the country first. That is why we are talking about the country first, but even this is causing pain in the stomach of many people,” Maulana Madani added.
