Fuel bowser owners concerned over depleting stocks

CPPBOA, Joint Secretary D.V.Shantha Silva told the Daily News that although over 90 percent of the bowser drivers had duly reported for duty on Monday following the assurance given by Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekara in regard to the 30 percent increase in bowser hire charges, it is pity to say that the distribution centres have not carried out the distribution in a proper way.

Fuel distribution was halted a few days ago due to a decision taken by private fuel tank owners. He also said according to bowser drivers the distribution centres had informed them to refrain from coming to the centres until further notice. “I think the distribution centres have no sufficient stocks of fuel to provide bowser owners or due to the distribution work load in the centres has caused this shortage,”he said.
