First war crime trial ongoing in Ukraine, more trials to follow

New Delhi:

The first case of War Crimes is being heard in Kyiv where a captured Russian soldier is facing trial. It is one of the many cases that the Kyiv authorities will be pursuing, there is a long list of upcoming trials being decked up.

On one hand the trial of the 21-year-old Sgt. Vadmin Shyshimarin began and on the other hand, heavy losses were incurred by the Russian forces following an attack that destroyed a pontoon bridge that barred off the Russian forces to cross a river from the east. The officials of Ukraine and Britain have said these are the act of dissipation that will turn Russia’s future wary.

The airborne command of Ukraine had released the pictures and video footage of what it claims to be a damage Russian pontoon bridge. It is situated over the

Siversky Donets River in Bilohorivka. They have also claimed that there are nearly 73 destroyed Russian vehicles.

Britain’s Defence Ministry has stated that Russia has lost “significant armored maneuver elements” of at least one battalion tactical group in the attack. Russian battalion groups usually have a strength of about 1,000 groups.

“Conducting river crossings in a contested environment is a highly risky maneuver and speaks to the pressure the Russian commanders are under to make progress in their operations in eastern Ukraine,” said the ministry in its daily intelligence update.

Russia at all instances have always denied being a creator of war crimes. They have always cited any of such claims to be in complete disorientation with the ground reality.
