Fifteen Mirihana protestors appear before CID

Fifteen persons who had been arrested and released on bail in connection with the Mirihana protest appeared before the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) yesterday.

They were summoned before the CID to record a statement.

A protest was held on March 30 at Mirihana demanding solutions to a number of issues faced by the people.

A tense situation during the protest triggered clashes between the protestors and the police. Police later arrested a number of protestors in connection with the incident.

Accordingly, 15 of these suspects who had been released on bail by Court had appeared before the CID last morning to record statement in connection with the incident.
