'Corruption by AAP, need CBI investigation': Delhi BJP chief Adesh Gupta writes to Union Home Minister Amit Shah

New Delhi:

Adesh Gupta, the president of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Delhi unit, today wrote to Union Home Minister Amit Shah expressing the possibility of a scam happening in Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC). The Delhi BJP chief highlighted the issue of frequent fires in DTC buses and demanded a CBI investigation.

In the letter to the Home Minister, Gupta stressed on the atmosphere of fear among the people of Delhi about traveling in DTC buses due to frequent fires.

“Hon’ble Sir, daily fire accidents in DTC buses plying on the roads of Delhi have become common. Due to the negligence and corruption of the Delhi government, in the last one month, 6 DTC buses full of passengers got burnt on the roads, there could have been a major accident. Due to this, there is an atmosphere of fear among the people of Delhi about traveling in buses,” wrote Gupta.

Accusing the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) of corruption in the transport corporation, Gupta wrote, “Big corruption has been done by the Delhi government in the matter of DTC buses. Since the Chief Minister of Delhi has come to power, not a single new bus has been bought in Delhi. Before his arrival, there were about 6200 DTC settlements in Delhi which has now come down to 3700, whereas in the last 7 years the population of Delhi has increased by about 20 to 25 lakhs. Delhi Chief Minister Kejriwal himself had submitted an affidavit in the court and said that there is a need for 11000 new buses in Delhi.”

“In the name of maintenance of old buses by the Delhi government, a 3 year contract of Rs 50 lakh per bus has been given, which smells of big corruption. Sir, earlier there was a provision to replace these buses in 7.5 lakh kms or 12 years but due to its failure, Kejriwal government wrongly changed this provision to 15 years,” he added.

Expressing concern about the aging busses, Gupta added, “Sir, all the buses running in Delhi today are almost all overage and not a single bus has been maintained till date. This is the reason that every day a bus becomes a victim of a fire accident. The situation today is that due to the negligence of the Delhi government, the lives of the people of Delhi are at risk. Any major accident can happen on any day.”

In conclusion, the Delhi BJP chief demanded a CBI investigation in the matter. “Honorable Sir, prima facie this whole matter seems to be a big corruption. Therefore, I request you to get the entire case investigated by CBI.”
