Punjabi singer and Congress leader Sidhu Moose Wala, who was shot at in Punjab’s Mansa on Sunday, was brought dead to the hospital, said Dr Ranjeet Rai, Civil Surgeon, Mansa Hospital.
The Congress leader was shot at by unknown people earlier today. The incident took place a day after his security was withdrawn by the Punjab police among 424 others.
The singer had joined the Congress party last year in December ahead of the Assembly elections.
He had contested this year’s Punjab assembly election on a Congress ticket from Mansa and was defeated by AAP candidate Vijay Singla by a huge margin of 63,000 votes.
Congress took to Twitter to offer condolences to the young leader. The murder of Sidhu Moose Wala, Congress candidate from Punjab & a talented musician, has come as a terrible shock to Congress party & the entire nation. Our deepest condolences to his family, fans & friends,” the party said in a tweet.
