Congress leader Hardik Patel drops party's name from Twitter bio, raises eyebrows

New Delhi:

Gujarat Congress working president Hardik Patel on Monday cut off the party’s name from his Twitter bio. The media reports alleged that he has removed the mention of the Congress from his Telegram and WhatsApp accounts as well.

“Proud Indian Patriot. Social and Political Activist. Committed to a better India,” reads new bio of Patel.

The Congress working president has been vocal against the functioning of the party for a very long time. However, he had disapproved the speculations of him joining Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Patel has been seen praising BJP and its decision of Ram Mandir construction and abrogation of Article 370. To which the Congress leader reacted by saying, “If a rival has a good quality, then, in politics, we will have to think about it. If they make bold decisions, we will also have to make bold decisions. If you waste your time, then people will leave you. There are many young people who want to work for the party. I openly wish that such youngsters should get an opportunity”.

The Congress leader earlier clarified that he is not upset with the party’s top brass but with the state party.

“I am not upset with Rahul Gandhi or Priyanka Gandhi. I am upset with the state leadership. Why am I upset? Elections are coming up and in such times work should be done together with honest and strong people. They should be given positions,” said Patel.

Hardik Patel emerged as the leader of the Patidar agitation demanding reservation for the community in Gujarat in 2015 and later joined Congress.
