BPSC Paper Leak: Union Minister RK Singh condemns incident, calls 'unfortunate'

Union Power Minister RK Singh on Monday strongly criticised the alleged paper leak incident took place in Bihar yesterday (May 8) resulting in the cancellation of the 67th Combined (Preliminary) Competitive Examination. He called the paper leak ‘unfortunate’ and asked the board to stay vigilant to avoid such incidents.

“It is unfortunate that lakhs prepare throughout the year to appear in BPSC examination… people believe they will be honest and fair but such incidents happen. It shakes hearts of millions. BPSC Chairman should make sure that it does not happen again,” said the Union Minister.  

The 67th Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) exams were cancelled on the recommendations of a three-member inquiry committee by the commission chairman RK Mahajan.

Earlier in the day, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav said that the lives of students are being played with as there are number of paper leak incidents taking place across the state. While condemning the act, the RJD leader claimed his party has raised this issue multiple times but no concrete solution has come yet.  

“This is unfortunate, sad and condemnable. This has happened several times in various exams including school papers. But no one learns. We have taken this up several times but to no avail. Students’ lives are being played with,” said the RJD leader. 

Meanwhile, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar informed about the investigation in the matter related to the cancellation of the 67th Combined (Preliminary) Competitive Examination due to the paper leak. The Chief Minister assured the strict action against the ones behind the paper leak. This comes 

“We took immediate action in the matter. We are checking where and how the paper was leaked. Enquiry has begun. Police are investigating. I have asked them to speed it up. Anyone found involved would be taken action against,” said the Chief Minister. 

The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) had conducted the exam on Sunday which was later cancelled as the paper was leaked nearly ahead the commencement of the exam. The exam was held on nearly 1,083 exam centres. 

Meanwhile, over 6 lakh candidates had applied for appearing in the exam. The board ha conduct the exam for the recruitment on 802 posts.
