Ukraine War: Russia's most powerful warship 'Moskva' sinks in Black Sea

Moscow:

The Ukraine-Russia war continues for the 51st day. The Russian army has suffered a lot in this war. On Thursday, Russia suffered its biggest setback of this war. The Russian navy’s Slava-class cruiser Moskva sank in the Black Sea.

The Russian defense ministry said late on Thursday that the warship Muskva sank in the Black Sea after being damaged during a military operation in Ukraine. Meanwhile, Ukraine has claimed that it destroyed this huge warship with the help of its Neptune cruise missile and Bayraktar TB-2 drones bought from Turkey.

Russia has denied an attack by Ukraine on the ship. Russia has said that it will investigate how the warship caught fire. Meanwhile, an air strike alert has been declared in all cities of Ukraine. According to the Kyiv Independent, information about the blast was received in the capital Kyiv on Friday morning.

Moskva warship was the pride of Vladimir Putin

Defense experts say that during the Second World War, it will be the first time since 1941 that such a large Russian warship has been destroyed by an enemy country. This warship was the ‘Pride’ of the Russian Navy and had protected Vladimir Putin.

The Moskva warship weighed 12,500 tons and was 600 feet long. The ship was equipped with several anti-ship and surface-to-air missiles. Russia has two other warships of the same class.

Russia has suffered the biggest blow

This warship was built by Soviet Ukraine and was named ‘Slava’ or ‘Glory’ (Shan). Later in 1995, this warship was named ‘Moskva’ after the capital Moscow after the collapse of the Soviet Union. On the other hand, CIA director William J. Burns said on Thursday that Putin was disappointed that he could not win in Ukraine. Because of this, they can order the use of nuclear weapons of less capacity.
