Sikhs attacked in New York, 2nd such incident in 10 days

New York:

Once again, people of the Sikh community have been attacked in the United States (US). Two Sikh youths were beaten up and robbed near Richmond Hill in New York. 

This is the second incident of attack on people of the Sikh community in less than ten days. An elderly Sikh was attacked here in early April. According to the police, one person has been arrested in this case. The case is being investigated by registering a case against him under hate crime.

According to media reports, some people attacked the Sikh youths on the road and beat them with sticks and took off their turbans. 

Following the incident, the Consulate General of India in New York tweeted, “The attack on two members of the Sikh community in Richmond Hills, New York is condemnable.”

New York Attorney General Leticia James condemned the incident in a tweet. He said that the police is taking action against the criminals. 

The Indian Embassy has urged the New York Police and the local authority to take action against the culprits.

Delhi Sikh leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa shared a video of two Sikh men demanding a probe into the alleged hate crime.
