Rambukkana fracas: Man arrested for attempted arson on bowser

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) which is conducting investigations into the recent incident in Rambukkana arrested a person on Saturday who is suspected to have attempted to set fire on the fuel bowser during the public protest on April 19.

He had been arrested after scrutinizing the CCTV and the other video footage relating to the incident.

The suspect is a 28-year-old resident of Dharmapala Mawatha in Kegalle.

The particular footage shows that this suspect wearing a green T-shirt and camouflage short reaches the bowser and throws something away from the bowser of which the front side was already on fire.

The CID produced him before the Kegalle Magistrate on Saturday and was later released on bail by the Magistrate. However, it was reported that the suspect has been remanded after release for failing to fulfill the bail conditions.

Further investigations are conducted by the CID.
