Pushpa vs RRR vs KGF Chapter 2: First-weekend comparison of highest-grossing films in 2022

Since the pandemic began, the three most successful Indian films in terms of box office revenue have all come from the South. And while the success of SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus ‘RRR’ seemed like a foregone conclusion, the other two films– ‘Pushpa: The Rise’ and ‘KGF: Chapter 2’ took fans by surprise.

Allu Arjun-starrer Pushpa earned ₹367 crores globally with the Hindi version alone collecting ₹107 crores. KGF 2 has been even more phenomenal, earning ₹300 crores in just two days, with its Hindi-dubbed version also breaching ₹100 crores. 

With the stronghold ‘KGF: Chapter 2’ can be seen ruling the box office in just one weekend. The film is a certified Blockbuster with its strong cast, dialogues, action and story.

‘KGF: Chapter 2’ raked in Rs. 42.50 cr at the box office on its first Saturday, which is a drop of less than 10 percent from the first Friday numbers. The greatest success of KGF: Chapter 2 lies in the fact that it has made a massive audience for itself from a spectacular television run. Television has helped “Rocky Bhai” become a household name and when the masses lap onto a film, there is no stopping.

Rajamouli’s RRR had yet another strong day at the box office with collections around Rs. 3 cr. The film is expected to cross the magical figure of Rs. 250 cr net for its Hindi version on its fourth Sunday to become the highest-grossing film in the Hindi belts this year until it is toppled by KGF: Chapter 2 in the next few days. 

RRR is a Super-Hit at the box office and the Hindi version is looking to close around the Rs 275 crores mark.

The Allu Arjun starrer total box office collections in India now stand at Rs. 320 crores approx. It has grossed another Rs. 35 crores approx overseas, crossing Rs. 350 crores, for a total of Rs. 355 crores to date. The sixth-week collections in the Hindi circuits were the third-highest of all time.
