Patiala Clashes: Union Minister Anurag Thakur lashes out at AAP over violence in Punjab

New Delhi:

Union Minister Anurag Thakur on Saturday slammed the Aam Adami Party (AAP) in Punjab over the violence that broke out in Patiala on Friday (April 29). He said the incident reflects the deteriorating law and order situation.

“Even before polls, questions were raised about the intentions and capabilities of AAP. Questions were repeatedly raised over their connections with people and the kind of thought that they promote. What happened in Patiala is a signal of the deteriorating law and order situation,” said Thakur.

The Union Minister launched an scathing attack on Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann saying that the later spends more time outside the state.

“The Chief Minister is spending more time outside Punjab than in the state. Is the state government able to do anything? Under whose protection has the incident happened? Would the state government take strict steps against the perpetrators who tried to disrupt peace?” he said.

Thakur further asked the AAP to answer over the violent incident. He asserted that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Centre wants peace.

“The AAP has to answer because a lot of questions are arising that if such incidents take place in a district in a bordering state, then the steps should be taken at the right time. Centre and BJP wants peace and brotherhood in Punjab,” he said.

Meanwhile, Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supremo Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday warned the preparators of disrupting peace in Punjab. He said that the strict action will be taken.

The CM was speaking at the joint conference of Chief Ministers and Chief Justices of High Courts today, Kejriwal said, “Whosoever will disrupt the peace of Punjab, strict action will be taken against them.”

Violence erupted here on April 29 as the two groups indulged in the conflict during an anti-Khalistan march outside the Kali Mata temple. Following the conflict, the authorities had imposed an 11-hour long curfew and suspended mobile internet services temporarily.
