OG 'Jersey' star Nani praises Shahid Kapoor's performance in Hindi remake

New Delhi:

Shahid Kapoor’s cricket drama ‘Jersey’ has finally been released in theaters on Friday, and it seems like the film has achieved its target of remaking the hit Telugu film of the same name.

On Friday, after watching the remake, Nani, who portrayed the man role in the Telugu version, took to his Twitter and praised Shahid and the whole team.

He wrote, “Watched #Jersey, and our @gowtam19 again hit it out of the park. What performances and heart.

@shahidkapoor @mrunal0801 #PankajKapoor sir and my boy Ronit. This is true good cinema.Congratulations.”

Words of appreciation coming from the original ‘Jersey’ star is the best compliment Shahid can get.

The film is directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri and produced by Dil Raju, Aman Gill, and S Naga Vamsi. The movie spins around Arjun (Shahid), a failed cricketer who chooses to achieve his dream of representing Team India for his son. Mrunal Thakur and Pankaj Kapur are also a part of the film.

After getting postponed 5 times, the movie is finally released in the theaters on Friday. Earlier, the film was scheduled to be theatrically released on 28 August 2020 and then on 5 November 2021, before the Covid-19 pandemic delayed production. In wake of the third wave of the pandemic, the makers had again pushed the film’s December release and finalised April 14, 2022, as the final release date. But to avoid the clash with the much-awaited KGF: Chapter 2 starring Kannada superstar Yash and Thalapathy Vijay’s Beast, the film is hitting the box office.

When the movie got delayed for one more week, Film trade analyst Taran Adarsh took his Twitter handle and broke the news. “Jersey POSTPONED by one week… Will arrive in cinemas on 22 April 2022… The stakeholders arrived at the decision late last night,” he said in a tweet.
