Karauli communal violence: Tejasvi Surya meets victims, calls Ashok-led govt 'jungle raj'

Jaipur:

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Yuva Morcha national president and MP Tejasvi Surya on Wednesday paid a visit to the victims of the Karauli incident at Sawai Man Singh Hospital in Jaipur. He also said the state is facing ‘jungle raj’ under Ashok Gehlot-led Rajasthan government.

Surya said, “We’re witnessing ‘jungle raj’ under Ashok Gehlot governemnt. The condition of Karauli violence victims is critical. BJP will protest against this.”

Earlier in the day, the state police had detained Tejasvi Surya and his convoy at Hindaun-Mahua Border who were heading to violence-hit Karauli.

Surya while addressing the party workers said, “Section 144 is not in place at where we are now…It’s our constitutional right to go to Karauli. This dictatorial govt is snatching our rights, which is why we are protesting,” said Tejasvi Surya.

Surya along with his BJP leaders including Satish Poonia and several supporter were trying to go Karauli where the authorities have imposed a month-long curfew.

The BJP MP had tweeted a picture with the caption saying Chalo Karauli! (Let’s go Karauli).

Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) has been imposed in the Karauli district of Rajasthan after stones were pelted during a ‘Shobha Yatra’ procession on April 2.

After which, the state police arrested 46 people and detained seven others for interrogation following a stone-pelting incident during a religious procession in Karauli on Saturday.

The administration has also prohibited any objectionable sloganeering and singing or demonstration of similar activities.
