Irrfan Khan death anniversary: Babil Khan remembers fond memories of his 'greatest best friend'

New Delhi: It’s been a year to Irrfan Khan’s demise and we have still not processed the fact that the prolific actor is not among us. On this day, last year, Irrfan succumbed to colon infection at the age of 53.

Babil Khan, Irrfan’s  elder son who looks forward to his acting debut this year, often shares fond memories of his father on Instagram. Today, the grief stricken took to his Instagram and shared an unseen picture of Irrfan along with a detailed heartfelt note.

Babil, while sharing the picture said that Irrfan’s legacy has been ‘concluded’ by the actor himself and ‘no one can replace him’. The note read, “Chemo burns you from the inside, so to find joy in the simple things, like building your own table to write your own journals. There is a purity, I have not yet discovered. There is a legacy that has already been concluded by my Baba himself. A full stop. Nobody can ever replace him. Nobody will ever be able to.”

He further wrote, “To the greatest best friend, companion, brother, father, I ever had and ever will have. I love you so much, for the rest of this chaos we are choosing to call life. I miss you, more than all that shah-Jahan/mumtaz stuff; I would have built a space monument that could have taken us to the furthest parts of a blackhole singularity you were always intrigued by, but I would have been there with you Baba, and we could have gone together, hand in hand. (Exploring the last mysteries)”.

Recently, in an interview with Anupama Chopra, Babil revealed his father’s final words to him two-three days ago he died. He was quoted saying, “I was there in the hospital, two-three days before he died. He was losing consciousness, and one of the last things he said…he just looked at me, smiled and said ‘I am going to die’. And I told him ‘No, you are not’. He then smiled again and went back to sleep.

Irrfan Khan was suffering from cancer and was diagnosed with a neuroendocrine tumour in the year 2018.

Meanwhile, Babil is all set to make his acting debut with Netflix film ‘Qala’. The film, produced by Anushka Sharma and her brother, will feature the debutant alongside Tripti Dimri of Bullbul fame.
