A photo of a 10-year-old girl from Manipur attending class with her baby sister in her lap has gone viral on social media. Thongam Biswajit Singh, a minister from Manipur, shared the photo on Twitter on April 2, and it has received over 16,000 likes so far.
Meiningsinliu Pamei, a Tamenglong girl, was seen paying attention to her offline classes while her sister was fast asleep in her lap.
Singh, the Minister for Power and Forest, has promised to assist a Tamenglong girl named Meiningsinliu Pamei.
“Her dedication to education has astounded me! Meiningsinliu Pamei, a 10-year-old girl from Tamenglong, Manipur, attends school while babysitting her younger sister while her parents are away farming and studying,” the minister tweeted.
Furthermore, the minister stated that as soon as he learned of the news, he tracked down the girl’s family and asked them to bring her to the state capital of Imphal. He stated that he has spoken with the girl’s family and that he will personally oversee her education until she graduates.
“I told her family that I would personally oversee her education until she graduated. I’m so proud of her dedication!” the minister continued.
The minister’s post warmed the hearts of social media users, who praised Pamei’s spirit and dedication.
The 10-year-old attends Dailong Primary School in Manipur’s Tamenglong district. According to local media, the infant girl in Pamei’s lap is two years old.
