Gujarat: After Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, now bulldozers in action at Himmatnagar

After Delhi and Madhya Pradesh, action is now being taken to bulldoze the houses of Ram Navami violence accused in the Sabarkantha district of Gujarat.

According to reports, illegal occupation was destroyed by bulldozers at the houses of those accused of violence on Ram Navami. It is reported that after the government bulldozers reached the spot, some people themselves started demolishing the illegal parts of their houses.

In Himmatnagar of Sabarkantha district, on Tuesday, a bulldozer was run by the administration to remove illegal encroachment. It is being said that the bulldozers of the administration have also vandalized the houses of those whose names are involved in the violence during Ram Navami.

Stones were pelted on Ram Navami processions in Khambhat of Gujarat and Himmatnagar in Sabarkantha district. Tear gas shells were also used to control the crowd amid communal clashes.

Many families displaced from the area

On the afternoon of April 10, people of two communities started pelting stones at each other when a Ram Navami procession was taken out in Chhapariya area of Himatnagar city. He said the police used tear gas shells to control the situation. 

Later, additional police forces were called in from outside the city to bring the situation under control. After this, State Home Minister Harsh Sanghvi visited the violence-hit area.

According to media reports, about 20 people were arrested for this violence.

It is also reported that after the violence on the occasion of Ram Navami in view of family security, many families started displacing from the area. However, after the stone-pelting incident, the police had imposed Section 144 in the area as a precaution.
