First death in Khargone violence, body of missing Ibraish Khan found

Indore (Madhya Pradesh):

The body of 28-year-old Ibraish Khan, a resident of Islampura, who went missing after communal clashes in Madhya Pradesh’s Khargone during a Ram Navami procession on April 10, has been identified by his family at Indore’s MY Hospital in the early hours of Monday, the police said.

The district administration has identified him as a victim of the communal clash. Officials said Ibresh was considered the first casualty in the Khargone communal clashes. The administration is preparing to give an ex-gratia amount of Rs 4 lakh to his family. Ibrish’s mother Mumtaz was looking for him in the days after the clashes.

According to Khargone police, on April 11, they found an injured person in Kapas Mandi, 300 meters from Ibrish’s house. He was taken to a government hospital, but was declared brought dead and his identity could not be ascertained.

Superintendent of Police Rohit Keswani said, “We were told by the supervisor of the cotton market that his guard Kamal Salve had heard a group of men brutally thrash another man in the cotton market. The guard told us that they kept saying, ‘Maro isko maro’, but they all ran away as soon as they heard the police siren.”

The SP said the injured person was taken to the District Government Hospital in Khargone, but was declared brought dead on arrival.

Keswani added, “The teams after getting information about the incident checked the CCTV footage but found nothing. Since he could not be identified, the body was sent to MY Hospital, Indore.” 

He further said that after the post-mortem report, it was found that he was attacked with a heavy object on the left side of his head.

Confirming the murder, an FIR was registered under sections 302 (murder) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code on April 14 at 11.23 pm at Kotwali police station in Khargone. recorded in. Ibresh is survived by his wife and an eight-month-old child.
