In a case related to the J&K Bank scam, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) questioned former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister and National Conference (NC) leader Omar Abdullah in Delhi. The ED questioned Omar about the 12-year-old purchase of a building by the J&K Bank.
The former J&K chief minister arrived at the ED office in the national capital today to record his statement. Since 11 am today, the central investigation agency has been questioning the former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) registered a case in 2021 against the then-management of J&K Bank for allegedly paying an exorbitant rate of 180 crore for a property from Akruti Gold Builders in Bandra Kurla in 2010 in “blatant disregard to the tendering process under a well-knit conspiracy.”
Meanwhile, the National Conference strongly condemned the questioning of Omar Abdullah in the J&K Bank case, calling it “vicious vilification.”
The NC slammed the ED’s decision to summon Omar, claiming that JKNC vice president Omar Abdullah was summoned to Delhi today by the ED on the grounds that his presence was required in connection with an investigation. Even though this is a political exercise, he will cooperate because he has done nothing wrong.
“We have no doubt that the BJP’s fishing expedition will yield no tangible results, and the people will give the national conference a ringing endorsement as and when required,” the NC said on Twitter.
On November 21, 2021, the CBI filed a FIR against Akruti Gold Builders and unidentified public servants.
