Celebrities who turned down ad endorsements on moral grounds

Brand endorsements play a huge role in Bollywood celebrities income. Many big brands including Gucci, Prada, Louis Vuitton, etc. indulge in paid celebrity endorsements as a part of their marketing strategies. In fact, some stars like Sonam Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Kartik Aaryan are made in millions for a single Instagram post featuring a brand name. But, there are also some actors who have refrained from promoting products that they do not believe in, even if cost them big money. 

Anushka Sharma

Anushka Sharma has made it clear that she would never endorse fairness cream ads. “I would not endorse products that propagate racist and sexiest (beliefs)….and propagate social taboo,” she said.

Aamir Khan 

Aamir Khan reportedly rejected a luxury car endorsement deal apparently to concentrate on his image of a social crusader.

Ranbir Kapoor

It was earlier reported that Ranbir Kapoor had turned down a deal worth Rs 9 crore to endorse a fairness cream.

Sunny Leone 

Reportedly, Sunny Leone also turned down a sponsor to promote tobacco products.

Swara Bhasker 

Swara Bhasker had once rejected a fairness cream ad saying that the very idea of fairness creams is regressive and plants the seed of racism.

Emraan Hashmi 

Emraan Hashmi did not think twice before turning down a Rs 4 crore offer to promote a liquor brand in 2013.

Sai Pallavi 

Sai Pallavi turned down a fairness cream commercial even when the brand owners were ready to pay her a whopping Rs 2 crore for it.
