Crime Branch has got a big success in the Jahangirpuri violence case. The Crime Branch team of Delhi Police has arrested two more accused in connection with the violence during the

Hanuman Jayanti 

procession in Jahangirpuri.

Both of those arrested are accused of indulging in violence by joining the mob. Police said those arrested are cousins and have been identified as Zafar and Babauddin.

“Two more accused, identified as Zafar and Babauddin, have been arrested in connection with the Jahangirpuri violence,” the Delhi Police said in a statement.

Both are accused of spreading violence on the streets of the national capital on April 16, the day Hanuman Jayanti was celebrated. Police said they played a key role in perpetrating violence during religious processions.

28 arrested so far

A total of 28 people have been arrested by the police for their involvement in the violence, in which several cops and local people were injured. Police said Zafar and Babauddin knew 40-year-old Mohammad Ansar, who is the prime accused in the case.

The police said that the arrested people attacked the Shobha Yatra with glass bottles. They also had swords.

Clashes broke out between two communities during a Hanuman Jayanti procession in Jahangirpuri on April 16, in which eight policemen and a local resident were injured. According to the police, stone-pelting and arson took place during the clashes and some vehicles were also torched.

So far 28 people have been arrested in the case and 3 minors have been sent to the Children’s Reform Home. At present, there are 9 accused including Ansar in the custody of the Delhi Police Crime Branch, who are being continuously interrogated and the accused are being identified.
