Amid fourth wave scare, India logs 2,451 new Covid-19 cases

New Delhi:

India continues to register an increase in its daily Covid-19 caseload as it reported 2,451 new infections during the last 24 hours, said the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Friday.

The death toll climbed to 5,22,116 with 54 fresh fatalities, the data updated at 8 am stated. The active cases in the country increased to 14,241which accounts for 0.03 per cent of the total cases. An increase of 808 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours.

The total number of people vaccinated in the country reached 1,87,26,26,515, on Friday, April 22. The daily positivity rate stood at 0.55% with the weekly positivity rate at 0.47%. A total of 83.38 crore tests have been conducted in the country so far with 4,48,939 tests being conducted in the last 24 hours.
