UN Security Council to hold meeting on humanitarian situation in Ukraine today

The UN Security Council (UNSC) will hold a meeting on the humanitarian situation in Ukraine on Thursday at 3 p.m. ET (12:30 a.m. Friday). 

Norway’s UN Mission in New York took to Twitter to say that the meeting was requested by the United States, Albania, United Kingdom, France, Ireland and Norway.

The UN Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs, the UN Refugee Agency and the World Health Organization will brief at top of the session, the tweet stated. 

Russia began invasion of Ukraine on February 24 after Russian President Vladimir Putin announced ‘special military operation’.

There has been mass exodus in Ukraine since Russia began invasion of its neighbouring country.
