Squid Game fame Anupam Tripathi congratulates 'senior' Lee Jung-jae for his Critics Choice Awards win

Anupam Tripathi, the Indian actor of the popular Korean web series Squid Game, is celebrating co-star Lee Jung-jae’s Critics Choice Awards win. The actor took to his social  to share a picture of himself posing with Lee. For the unversed, Lee Jung-jae became the first Korean actor to win the award for the Best Actor in a Drama Series at the Critics Choice Awards. Accepting his trophy with grace, the 49 year old megastar expressed a sincere thanks to God and everyone supporting ‘Squid Game’. 

Anupam Tripathi, who played the role of Ali, a Pakistani migrant, took to Instagram to congratulate Lee Jung-jae and penned a humble note. “Best time to upload this pic 🙂 The Best person I met on the set of SquidGame, The Gentleman and The Best actor is none other than Senior Lee Jung Jae @from_jjlee. congratulations 🎉 for Winning the Best actor award at critic choice award 2022 in the drama series for SquidGame 🙂 Thank you for inspiring me and for being a role model for me 🙂 it feels amazingly awesome,” he wrote. 

Squid Game has forayed into the mainstream Hollywood Awards with its unabashed popularity across the globe. Recently, the star cast of the film had attended the SAG Awards where they swept some of the major awards. While Lee Jung Jae took home the Outstanding Perf formance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series award for his role as Gihun in ‘Squid Game’, his co-star Jung Ho Yeon grabbed a teary Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series award, making them the first Korean recipients of their respective categories. 

Squid Game released last year on Netflix and broke several records. It follows the story of Gi Hun, played by Lee Jung-jae, who, along with hundreds of contestants, accepts an invitation to compete in children’s games for easy money.
