My personal WhatsApp number: Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann swings into action, announces anti-corruption helpline

Chandigarh:

Newly-elected Chief Minister of Punjab and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Bhagwant Mann on Thursday announced launch of an anti-corruption helpline. He said the helpline number will be his “personal number” and will be operational from March 23.

Mann took oath as the Chief Minister of Punjab on Wednesday and promised that hw would not waste a day.

In a Tweet in Hindi and Punjabi, Mann said, “On martyrdom day of Bhagat Singh ji, we will release the anti-corruption helpline number. That will be my person WhatsApp number. If anybody asks for bribe, send audio and video on that number. Stringent action will be taken against the corrupt.”

From now, there will be no corruption in Punjab, Mann said.

He said, “People of Punjab have performed their duty of voting and now its my time to do what I have been voted for me.”

“I am not threatening any government employee.  99 per cent of government employees are honest but there is 1 per cent of such employees are corrupt which has rotted the system. Only AAP can clean this corrupt system,” he added in a video message.

The anti-corruption helpline number will be exclusively for people to upload videos of corrupt officials demanding bribe for their day-to-day work or indulging in other malpractices. He said such officials will be punished.

One of the key poll promises for AAP was to eradicate corruption from the state. Ahead of the polls, party convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had promised to the people of Punjab to “end corruption in government jobs” if AAP is voted to power in the state.

In the recently concluded Punjab Assembly election 2022, AAP registered a landslide victory, winning 92 of 117 seats, Congress won 18 seats.
