LP Gas shortage affecting eateries - Association

President of the Restaurant Owner’s Association Asela Sampath called on the government to even increase gas prices and provide gas to restaurants.

He said a large number of restaurants are closing down and a large number of people are losing their jobs and are left without an income.

He said restaurants run in the hospital system of the country are facing many problems due to the lack of gas and that and even the canteen of the Colombo National Hospital is using gas tanks in crematoriums due to the lack of gas.

He said that thousands of patients and people who care for them including hospital staff, buy food and beverages from hospital canteens and urged authorities to even revise gas prices and release gas to the market as soon as possible.
