Kejriwal exudes confidence on newly-elected MLAs to fulfil expectations of Goans

New Delhi: 

Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener Arvind Kejriwal on Friday expressed confidence in the newly-elected AAP MLAs from Goa as the former meets the two after the party bagged two seats in the Goa Assembly Elections.

Chief Minister wrote on Twitter, “Met with the newly-elected AAP MLAs from Goa. Congratulated them on the win. I wish them all the best and I am sure that they will work hard to fulfil all expectations of the people of Goa.” 

Venzy Viegas won from the Benaulim seat where he defeated former Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress Churchill Alemao by margin of 1,271 votes. Meanwhile, Cruz Silva defeated Savio D’Silva, a candidate of Congress in Velim constituency. The victory margin between the two was mere of 169 votes. 

The Goa assembly polls were conducted on all 40 seats, of which, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won 20 seats. 

Earlier in the day, Goa BJP president Sadanand Shet Tanavade informed that the party decide the next Chief Minister after consulting with the national leaders in Goa. 

“There is no confirmation yet, I have not received any call from the Centre, it will be decided after a meeting with the party national leaders in Goa,” said Sadanand. 

After BJP, Congress could manage to win 11 seats in the state. Independent candidates bagged three seats while two seats each went to the tally of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Maharashtrawadi Gomantak (MGP). Revolutionary Goans Party and Goa Forward Party (GFP) got one seat each.
