Chhattisgarh: 5 killed, 17 injured after tractor-trolley hits truck; CM announces ex-gratia

Gariaband (Chhattisgarh):

At least five people were killed and 17 others got injured after a tractor-trolley collided with a truck in Chhattisgarh’s Gariaband district on Tuesday evening, officials said.

According to news agency PTI, the accident took place near Joba, around eight kilometres from Gariaband, when the victims — all belonging to Majarkatta — were returning after attending a family function in a nearby village.

“The tractor-trolley collided head on with a truck and then overturned, leaving five occupants dead and 17 injured, 14 of whom have been shifted to Raipur for further treatment,” said Vishwadeep Yadav, Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Gariaband.

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakhs each for kin of those killed in the accident. The injured would be given Rs 50,000, according to Chhattisgarh CMO.
