1 killed in fire after downed rocket hits Kyiv residential building: Ukraine Emergency Service


Ukraine’s Emergency Service on Friday said one person died and four others were injured in a fire at a residential building in the Podilskyi district of Kyiv. The blaze broke out after the remains of a downed rocket hit the five-storey building. 

The report of a fire was received around 8:04 a.m. local time, the emergency service said. When the firefighters arrived at the spot, they saw a fire from the first through the third floors. The personnel were involved in extinguishing the blaze till the last report came in.

According to preliminary information, 12 people were rescued and 98 people were evacuated, the service said.

As per the emergency services, ac10-story apartment building in the Podil neighborhood of the district, on Tuesday, was hit in a strike, causing a fire in the first five floors of the building.
