Parents protest against Haryana govt's decision tp conduct board exam for class 5, 8

Gurugram:

Several parents on Sunday staged a protest against the decision of state government to mandate board exams for Class 5 and Class 8. The protestors gathered at Leisure Valley here to express dissent to government’s decision.

In January, the Haryana government had announced to conduct board examinations for classes 5 and 8 across the state at the end of every year. The order will be implemented in all government as well as private schools.

The agitating parents are concerned for the children as they were already struggling to cop up with the learning gap. Some of them asserted that many children could not attend online classes properly and were struggling with the hybrid mode.

They also said, “The proposed BSEH (Board of Secondary Education, Haryana) syllabus differs from syllabi being taught in many schools. Students from a large number of schools are not familiar with this syllabus, and it is unfair to expect them to study it in a little over a month.”

Parents said that they will take the matter to the Haryana Education Department and the state Chief Minister. However, the case relating to this is already underway in Chandigarh High Court that is listed for next Monday.
