The renovated Dharmapala Park located on the edge of the Galle Fort will be opened by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa today. The Dharmapala Park, popular with both local and foreign tourists was in a state of disrepair due to a lack of proper maintenance. The renovation work of the Dharmapala Park in Galle was carried out under the supervision of the Urban Development Authority at the special request of Plantation Minister Dr. Ramesh Pathirana to the Urban Development Ministry under Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa.
The Sri Lanka Air Force station in Morawewa has undertaken paddy harvesting on behalf of the low income farmer community there using a newly acquired combine harvester machine.This was inaugurated on February 12 at Morawewa under the supervision of the Commanding Officer, Group Captain Lalith Sugathadasa. Initially, 31 paddy farming families were selected under the recommendation of Divisional Secretariat Morawewa and Paddy Farming Societies in the Morewawa area.It is intended to harvest 93 acres where three acres of each family would be harvested free during this initial phase.
