Freelance journalist Rahul Samantha Hettiarachchi lodged a complaint with the Ambalantota police on Tuesday that he had been threatened over an investigative report which was published in a Sinhala daily newspaper Ada on the 8 February.
Hettiarachchi said that the report based on facts obtained under the Right to Information Act and highlighted that the authorities were blind to the illegal filling of arable paddy lands at Thawaluwila and Puhulyaya in Ambalantota.
Hettiarachchi added that the threatening phone call had been made by a female who claimed to be the mother of an individual who is known to be engaged in the illegal filling of arable paddy land in the above mentioned area.
