The security forces have killed a Pakistan-backed terrorist in an ongoing encounter at Chermarg in the Janapora area of the Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir early on Saturday.
The slain terrorist has not been identified yet. The operation of the security forces is still going on. More terrorists are expected to be present in the area. The security forces had given the terrorists several opportunities to lay down their arms before firing on them. Even after the killing of one terrorist, the security personnel are asking the other terrorists hiding in the area to surrender but at the moment the operation is going on.
According to the information received from the police, a search operation was carried out by a joint team of SOG, Army and CRPF who reached there immediately after the information of sighting of terrorists in the Chermarg area of Jainpora.
As the security forces approached the suspected hideout, the hiding terrorists opened fire on them. Responding to the firing, the security forces asked the hiding terrorists to surrender but the terrorists continued firing on the security forces. The encounter is going on at the moment.
