Yati Narasimhanand arrested for inflammatory speech at Haridwar 'Dharma Sansad'

New Delhi:

Yati Narasimhanand has been arrested on charges of giving an inflammatory speech at the Haridwar ‘Dharma Sansad’.

This is the second arrest in this case after Wasim Rizvi.

During the religious meeting held on December 17-19 in Haridwar, various religious leaders had given speeches calling for the use of weapons against the Muslim community.

After much outrage and condemnation, the Uttarakhand police first registered an FIR in the name of only one person – Wasim Rizvi, who has converted from Islam to Hinduism and has adopted the name Jitendra Tyagi.

Later four more names were added in this case- Sagar Sidhu Maharaj, Yeti Narasimhanand, Dharmadas and Pooja Shakun Pandey. The event was organized by religious leader Yeti Narasimhanand, who has been accused of inciting violence in the past with his inflammatory speeches.

In the viral clip, Prabodhananda Giri was heard saying: “Like Myanmar, our police, our politicians, our army and every Hindu should take up arms and carry out a cleansing campaign (ethnic cleansing). There is no other option left.”

Giri later said that he has no regrets.

“I am not ashamed of what I have said. I am not afraid of the police. I stand by my statement,” he said.

Another controversial video shows Pooja Shakun Pandey alias “Sadhvi Annapurna” calling for arms and inciting violence against Muslims.

“If you want to eliminate them, they need to … we need 100 soldiers who can kill 2 million to win it,” Pandey said.
