Ratlam: MP's own Kairana where Hindus are forced to flee

Ratlam (Madhya Pradesh):

A situation similar to Uttar Pradesh’s Kairana is developing in the communally sensitive district of Ratlam in Madhya Pradesh.

Just as the Kairana area of Uttar Pradesh had garnered national concern following the flight of Hindus due to persecution by the Muslim community, a similar situation is now taking place in the

Surana village of Ratlam district in Madhya Pradesh.

The people of the Hindu community living in this village have alleged that they are being threatened and harassed by the local Muslim community.

Surana village has a population of 2200

of which 60 percent are Muslims and 40 percent are Hindus.

. Around 85 houses belong to Hindus and 150 houses belong to Muslims.

The Hindu residents of Surana have been warned by their Muslim neighbours to leave the village along with their families within 3 days.

Most of the Hindu families have written “This house is for sale” and “We are fleeing from the Muslim society and administration” on the walls and doors of their houses.

These incidents have taken place despite the fact that a BJP government is ruling over Madhya Pradesh (MP).

On Tuesday, a delegation of local Hindus handed over a memorandum

in this regard

to

SDM Abhishek Gehlot

at the collector’s office.

Before approaching the SDM, the Hindu villagers had approached SP Gaurav Tiwari with the problem, but no hearing was held.

The angry villagers

chanted slogans

against

the administration and SP

Gaurav Tiwari

at the Collectorate.

The Ratlam collector is scheduled to visit the village on Wednesday.

“All the people in the village are living together with peace and brotherhood. An investigation team will be formed and sent to the village and a solution will be worked out by talking to the people,”

Ratlam Additional Collector ML Arya told News24.

According to the afflicted Hindus,

for the last 2-3 years, incidents like abuse, beatings and intimidation of Hindu youth have been taking place in the village. False FIRs have also been registered against Hindu youth.

The local Hindus alleged that when the police are informed of the problem, both parties are harassed without any reason.
