News24 EXCLUSIVE: Want to thank Priyanka Gandhi but SP & allies will not need anyone's help, says Akhilesh Yadav

Akhilesh Yadav thanked Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra for saying her party would extended support to Samajwadi Party to form the majority in the state if the need arises. But said SP and allies will not needing anyone else’s assistance.

In an exclusive interview with News24 Editor-in-Chief Anurradha Prasad, Akhilesh Yadav said, “I want to thank her (Priyanka Gandhi Vadra) and also want to tell that Samajwadi Party and its allies will not be requiring anyone else’s assistance.” 

When asked what makes he so confident about the victory in the Uttar Pradesh Election 2022, Akhilesh Yadav said, “I am saying this with full confidence because our win is confirm from the very first phase.”

He further said BJP is “nervous” and its leaders and workers are going streets to streets and door-to-door to lure voters, and they are imposing restriction on opposition parties to campaign for the polls. 

“They are campaigning without even wearing face mask,” Akhilesh said.

In an exclusive interview with News24 Editor-in-Chief Anurradha Prasad on Saturday, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra when asked whether her party will support Akhilesh Yadav if need arises, She said, “We will see if such situation comes, but I don’t think there should be any issue on this. If a situation like this comes then why not?”

So, does that mean that the Congress will support Akhilesh Yadav if his Samajwadi falls short of some seats to make to the majority in the UP Polls 2022? 

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said, “Only on condition that our agenda of women and youth is implemented.”

Polling for the 403 Uttar Pradesh Assembly seats will be held in seven phases on between February 10 and March 7. Voting dates are – February 10, 14, 20, 23, 27 and March 3 and 7. The counting of votes will take place on March 10.
