Karnataka adds 8,449 new COVID cases, up 68% from yesterday; Bengaluru alone sees 6,812 infections

Bengaluru:

Karnataka has reported 8,449 new COVID-19 cases and four deaths in the last 24 hours. The fresh infections in the state are 68 per cent higher than yesterday.

Most number of fresh cases were reported from Bengaluru Urban. The state capital has logged 6,812 cases and three deaths in the last 24 hours.

District that reported new COVID-19 cases include – Mysuru (219), Dakshina Kannada (211), Belagavi (114). 

The state’s COVID-19 positivity rate now stands at 4.15 per cent.

There are total of 30,113 active cases of coronavirus in the state.

The last 24 hours saw, 505 patients recovered from COVID-19. This has increased total recoveries in the state to 29,62,548.

As many as 2,03,260 samples were tested in Karnataka in the last 24 hours, taking the cumulative number of specimens examined over 5.73 crore.

As per the data by the state health department, 3,44,917 vaccine doses were administered in Karnataka on Friday.
