The Illegal Property and Assets Confiscation Division of the Criminal Investigation Department has taken into its custody the movable and immovable property worth over Rs.30 million owned by underworld figure ‘Kudu Anju’ who lives in Dubai. These properties were taken over from the Moratumulla area.
Accordingly, two houses, gold jewellery, a mini lorry, a three-wheeler and a motor cycle have been taken over by the CID.
Police suspect that Kudu Anju has purchased these properties with money earned through heroin smuggling after 2018.
Police in October 2021 arrested a couple with 75 grams of heroin and further investigations had revealed that they are the local agents handling Kudu Anju’s drug business in Sri Lanka.
