Cabinet nods to amend Intellectual Property Act

Cabinet of Ministers has approved a proposal made by Trade Minister Bandula Gunawardane to publish the amended Intellectual Property Act no.36 of 2003 in the government gazette and subsequently submit to the parliament, Co-cabinet Spokesman Energy Minister Udaya Gammanpila said. 
He was speaking at the weekly cabinet media conference held today at the Government Information Department.  
At the cabinet meeting held on October 12, 2020, the Cabinet of Ministers granted their consent to bring amendments to the Intellectual Property Act no.36 of 2003 in order to meet the present requirements. 
Accordingly, the clearance of the Attorney General has been received for the bill drafted by the Legal Draftsman.
