Madurai:
A man was arrested for helping his wife deliver her baby at home by following a YouTube video after which the woman delivered a still-born. The incident took place near Ranipet district in Tamil Nadu.
Gomathi went into labor on Monday, when her husband Loganathan tried to help her deliver baby at home with the help of YouTube videos.
In the process, the woman delivered a dead baby. After that, Gomathi was admitted to hospital in Vellore in critical condition where she is undergoing treatment.
Ranipet Police conducted an inquiry based on the complaint and have arrested Loganathan under Sections 304(ii) and 316. The Ranipet police are also trying to reach out to his sister in connection with the case.
Tamil Nadu health minister M. Subramanian said, “We have received a complaint and based on it we have filed an FIR. We are taking legal action.”
However, this scene reminds us of the sequence in movie ‘3 Idiots’ where Amir Khan tried to deliver baby through a video call with Kareena Kapoor who was far away from the place of delivery. The circumstances of Gomathi’s incident are still unknown but this scenario has gone totally unsuccessful.
