Tamil Nadu: Madurai's Meenakshi Amman Temple withdraws its order allowing only fully vaccinated people from Dec 13

Amid the spread of Omicron variant of COVID-19, Madurai’s Meenakshi Amman Temple administration has tighten its norms for devotees and tourists visiting the world famous temple. From Monday (December 13), only those who have taken both the doses of COVID-19 vaccine, or are fully vaccinated will be permitted to enter Sri Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple in Madurai, Tamil Nadu. 

District collector in an order stated that those who have not take their vaccine dose in Madurai will be barred from entering public places including fair price shops, business establishments, supermarkets, theatres, wedding halls, shopping malls, garment shops, banks and liquor stores.

For the safety of people and to curtail the spread of COVID-19, the district administration has also made arrangements to send eligible adults, who still have not taken the vaccine, to nearby centers.

As per earlier order, people were given one week’s time to to get at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

The notice had further stated that the district administration has been taking measures to send people, who have not taken the vaccine, to nearby centers to get their dose.

“One week’s time has been given to people to get at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine, failing which those unvaccinated people to be not allowed to enter public places like hotels, shopping malls and other commercial establishments,” the District Collector said.
