Take over Northern hospitals - TNPF

Tamil National People’s Front (TNPF) Leader MP Gajendrakumar Ponnambalam has made a request from the Health Ministry to take over all leading hospitals under the Northern Provincial Council and to provide a more effective health service.

The letter sent by the MP to the Health Ministry states that out of the 117 hospitals currently operating in the Northern Province, 19 hospitals have no doctors.

Ponnambalam has requested the Health Ministry of the central government take over and develop these hospitals as they do not provide good health care to the people except for a few hospitals in the Northern Province.

He also said that there was a severe shortage of doctors and nurses in the Jaffna Teaching

Hospital and urged the Health Ministry to address the shortage of doctors in this hospital as well.
