Actor Ranveer Singh’s much-awaited film ’83’ has hit the theatres today and late actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s fans are calling for the film’s boycott. #Boycott83 is trending on Twitter on the day of its release and SSR fans are super serious about it.
SSR fans believe that actor Ranveer Singh has mocked the late actor many times, allegedly in the TVC of chips ‘Bingo’ and they are trending the hashtag ‘Boycott 83’ and ‘Boycott Bollywood’ on Twitter.
In the ad, which was for a fried snack brand, Ranveer deals with nosy elders by spouting off complex physics terms in a gibberish sentence. Sushant’s fans saw it as “mocking” their idol. Sushant was a Physics specialist and used many scientific terms himself in his sentences. Getting offended by the mocking, SSR fans are against the film and want to ‘Boycott’ it.
The film, directed by Kabir Khan, chronicles India’s win under Kapil Dev’s captainship when the team defeated West Indies in the final to clinch their first-ever World Cup trophy in 1983. It also stars Pankaj Tripathi, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Jiiva, Saqib Saleem, Jatin Sarna, Chirag Patil, Dinker Sharma, Nishant Dahiya, Harrdy Sandhu, Sahil Khattar, Ammy Virk, Addinath Kothare, Dhairya Karwa, and R Badree.
