Tamil National Alliance (TNA) Leader R. Sampanthan has decided to rest and temporarily withdraw from active politics based on medical advice, a statement issued by the TNA said yesterday.
Accordingly, he has temporarily withdrawn from holding political discussions, attending media briefings and accepting visitors.However, he has neither resigned from the leadership of the TNA nor has he appointed an acting leader to replace him, the TNA official statement said.
