Lucknow:

Raids were carried out at the premises related to perfume trader Piyush Jain and a massive amount of cash was recovered, which is estimated to be over Rs 150 crore, according to reports.

The entrepreneur had recently manufactured the ‘Samajwadi’ perfume, which was launched by Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav.

The raids were carried out by the Directorate General of GST Intelligence (DGGI) Gujarat and Income Tax department, reports said.

According to News 18, the I-T raid took place in the residence and office of Piyush Jain, while the DGGI raided the factory of a pan masala manufacturer and office of a transporter, allegedly involved in evading tax worth crores by using fake invoices.

This comes ahead of the Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh.

Talking about the raid, Union Minister Anurag Thakur told ANI, “It is our constant effort that people who work in this country should have ease of doing business, we have also worked in the direction of One Nation-One Tax. People who evade tax will not be spared at all.”
